Severe Weather in South Florida
As many of you know, Sunny Smart Supplements is based in and ships from South Florida. We experienced the rainiest day in our history on Wednesday – a 1-in-1,000-year rainfall event – sparking a flash flood emergency in Broward County that has prompted emergency rescues, forced drivers to abandon cars, closed schools, and shut down the Fort Lauderdale Airport through 5 a.m. on Friday. And more rain is on the way.
The safety of our employees is of the utmost importance to us and thankfully, our team has remained steadfast during the severe weather of the last two days.
During morning and afternoon drop-off both yesterday (Wednesday, April 12th) and today, our team confirmed with all carriers they not changed to an earlier pickup and thus missed the delivery window. In fact, our team went to multiple manned drop off locations to ensure all packages would go out as normal.
Any status/delivery changes you may notice is being changed by the carriers to reflect a modified pickup or departure from South Florida due to the changing conditions based on the weather and its after-effects.
The good news is that although Fort Lauderdale Airport remains closed until Friday morning, commercial packages fly out of multiple airports in the South Florida area. Any decision to re-route these packages, if necessary, will be made by the individual carriers. Unfortunately, we cannot say for certain how many packages may or may not be delayed because of the devastating weather we have endured over the past 24-36 hours.
That being said, we do apologize for any potential delay in delivery that may occur. Thankfully, we have been able to remain open and operate safely, and should be able to do so for the foreseeable future. If we are forced to alter our hours of operation or if we receive confirmed delays from any carrier, we will update everyone right away. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.
